Fresh strikes hit south Beirut after Israeli evacuation calls

Early on Friday, the Israeli army ordered buildings in Hezbollah’s stronghold to evacuate, and at least ten attacks struck the southern suburbs of Beirut.

With the death toll rising on both sides of the border, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with visiting U.S. officials the day before the strikes to seek a potential agreement to stop the war in Lebanon.
In the suburbs, AFPTV footage showed explosions followed by the formation of smoke clouds.

“The raids left massive destruction in the targeted areas, as dozens of buildings were levelled to the ground, in addition to the outbreak of fires,” Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) said.

The Sayyed Hadi Highway, the area around the Al-Mujtaba Complex, the old airport route, and the suburban communities of Ghobeiry and Al-Kafaat were the targets of the strikes, it continued.

In recent weeks, the Israeli military has carried out lethal attacks throughout Lebanon including the capital, as well as frequent bombardments of south Beirut.
