The Foreign Secretary congratulated Ambassador Weeks on his appointment and expressed gratitude to the Swedish Government for their support to the Interim Government. He highlighted Bangladesh’s principled stance in support of peace amidst the complex dynamics of the present world.
The Foreign Secretary emphasized the deep-rooted and valuable relationship between Bangladesh and Sweden, recognizing the comprehensive cooperation that has flourished over the years. Ambassador Weeks reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh in areas such as green transition and artificial intelligence. The Foreign Secretary welcomed the Swedish Government’s support and acknowledged the Swedish humanitarian assistance for the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals temporarily sheltered in Bangladesh. He stressed the need for their early, voluntary, and sustainable repatriation to their homeland. Both sides shared optimism about the future of bilateral relations and increased collaboration through political consultations in the coming years.
