Fire Service takes preparations to face cyclone ‘Dana’

The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has made every effort to prepare for the impending cyclonic storm “Dana.”

According to a press statement issued by the FSCD today, as part of the preparations, the agency has established a divisional monitoring cell in Khulna and revoked the leave of all its staff at the affected fire stations in the coastal regions.

According to the statement, fire service authorities have been urged to stay vigilant in order to address any issue.

Furthermore, since this morning, the FSCD has been running extensive campaigns to raise awareness of the cyclone in the disaster-prone areas of the Khulna and Barishal divisions.

According to the FSCD announcement, they kept in regular communication with the local governments and attended preliminary meetings with them.

Volunteers under the Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP), Search and Rescue Team, Water Rescue Team and a team of physicians have been kept ready in the disaster-prone areas to face any emergency situation.

Apart from these, the FSCD has kept ready the required fire distinguishing equipment, ambulance, rotary rescues, airlifting bags, and first aid boxes to make the preparation foolproof.

Along with preparing the roads for traffic, the FSCD officers have been given the responsibility of carrying out post-cyclone searches and rescue operations.

According to the FSCD announcement, the central control room and the corresponding divisional control rooms have been collecting information about the cyclone continuously, so residents of disaster-prone areas can access emergency services 24/7.

To obtain any emergency services, everyone has been urged to call the Dhaka Central Room hotline 102, the Khulna divisional control room (01733062209), the Barishal divisional control room (01878001111), or the fire stations in the area.
