The Dutch Ambassador in Dhaka, Irma van Dueren, stated that the Netherlands is prepared to provide technical support for the reform program of the Bangladeshi Interim Government.
The assurance was made while the outgoing envoy paid a farewell courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the state guest house Padma on Sunday, a foreign ministry’s press release said here today. During the meeting, the ambassador also expressed Dutch companies’ enhanced interest in expansion of business ties with Bangladesh, particularly in water, maritime and agriculture sectors. Both the sides touched upon multi-faceted bilateral cooperation between the two countries spanning across areas inter-alia water, agriculture, trade & investment, climate change, defence, and women empowerment.
They also mentioned the productive bilateral discussion that took place in New York last month, outside of the 79th UNGA, between the prime minister of the Netherlands and the chief adviser for Bangladesh.The Dutch ambassador thanked the Foreign Secretary for all of the assistance she got in carrying out her duties from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry and the Foreign Secretary complimented her on a job well done on her tour of duty in Bangladesh.
The Foreign Secretary hosted a goodbye luncheon in honour of the departing Ambassador after the courtesy call.
The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps & Ambassador of Morocco, envoys of India, the UK, Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Norway, European Uninon, France and Egypt, UNDP Resident Representative and Deputy Chief of Mission of Denmark, among others, also joined the farewell lunch.
