30, dead, 400000 displaced in Nigeria floods: rescuers

At least 30 people have died and 400,000 more have been forced from their homes in Maiduguri, northeastern Nigeria, as a result of severe floods, the emergency services reported on Wednesday.

“The death toll is thirty,” Ezekiel Manzo, a spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, told AFP following the inundation of thousands of homes in Borno state’s capital city by floodwaters from an overflowing dam.
