Nationwide District-named hi-tech parks, software technology parks, and IT training and incubation centers will be established.
A ministry news release stated that Md. Nahid Islam, the advisor for posts, telecommunications, and information technology as well as the president of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, made the decision today during the organization’s 32nd meeting, which was held at the ICT Tower in the city’s Agargaon.
The advisor stated that since there have been several complaints about the allocation and cancelation of land in Hi-Tech Park, it is imperative to investigate any potential irregularities or corruption in the process.
“We didn’t get the expected results as per the objective of establishing the nationwide Hi-Tech parks,” he said, stressing the need for further review to assess the lacking – whether it was political reason or corruption or inefficiency responsible for not getting the desired outcomes.
He continued, “Identifying these issues will make it easier to work ahead.”
Nahid Islam emphasized the importance of learning more about how other nations operate and how Bangladesh might progress the task within its means.
Furthermore, the advisor advised carrying out practical job with reasonable expectations.
A suggestion was made at the conference to rename the dormitories of Hi-Tech Parks in honor of Shaheed Mugdha, Abu Sayeed, and a few other martyrs who lost their lives fighting against discrimination on campus.
The advisor for posts, telecommunications, and information technology, on the other hand, disagreed, stating that the martyrs’ memories should be perpetuated rather than rushing like the Awami League government did.
The meeting also resolved to shortlist a new PMC via an open tender procedure and exempt the current PMC of the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in the Jessore district.
It also covered the issue of residents’ unpaid rent arrears in Karwan Bazar’s Janata Tower and whether or not they could remain in the tower while it was rebuilt.
The meeting also discussed how to help those who will invest in the hi-tech park to get loans.
