France says it ‘supports ICC’, where warrants sought for Israel, Hamas leaders

Late on Monday, France declared its support for the independence of the International Criminal Court, whose prosecutor has asked for arrest warrants for Hamas, an Islamist organization, and Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The foreign ministry of France issued a statement saying, “France supports the International Criminal Court, its independence, and the fight against impunity in all situations.”

The UN announced on Tuesday that due to a shortage of supplies and increased security, it was no longer able to provide food aid in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Since Israel’s entry into Rafah, which blocked a crucial border crossing, two weeks ago, the humanitarian catastrophe has worsened as it vows to drive out Hamas forces. Thousands of Palestinians, many of whom had already been displaced early in the conflict, were forced to escape Rafah due to the fighting.
