A two-day long youth capacity-building training program titled “Youth for Change” was held in Rajbari on 17-18 May, 2024. The program is organized by USAID, IRI, and JAAGO Foundation Trust, and saw the participation of 30 enthusiastic youths from the region.
The objective of the program was to ensure informed, long-term, and sustained youth participation in decision-making processes and to build awareness about the significance of youth voices in shaping Bangladesh’s democracy and civic engagement. The project aims to increase awareness and youth participation in the electoral process, ensuring their voices and concerns are recognized and addressed by authorities.
The workshop was conducted by expert instructors from the mekATeam group and was based on an activity-based open learning approach. This approach allowed the participants to engage in hands-on activities that fostered a deeper understanding of the topics discussed. In this workshop, Civic education, Civic engagement, Good governance, and Community development Project design for community development were covered.
The “Youth for Change” project contributes to creating an informed, engaged, and active citizenry. In this phase, 16 workshops will be held in 16 districts across the country, aiming to reach a broad spectrum of young individuals and empower them with the necessary skills and knowledge to actively participate in the democratic process.
The event in Rajbari marks a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the organizers are optimistic about the positive impact these workshops will have on the youth and the future of Bangladesh.
