Minimum Fitra fixed at Tk 115, maximum Tk 2970

This year, the minimum and highest amounts for Fitra, a charity donation made by prosperous Muslims at the end of Ramadan, are Tk 115 and Tk 2,970, respectively.

At a meeting today at the Islamic Foundation with its Chairman and the National Baitul Mukarram Mosque Khatib Mawlana Mohammad Ruhul Amin, the National Committee on Fitra Fixation fixed the rate.

Muslims are required to provide charity on Fitra, also known as Zakat al-Fitr or Fitrana, at the conclusion of Ramadan.

Islamic custom dictates that the committee determined Fitra by comparing the costs of a basket of necessities, such as wheat and flour.

Fitra can also be given to the less fortunate in the form of 3.3 kg of dates, raisins, cheese, barley, or 1.65 kg of premium wheat or flour.

The national price of the necessities is taken into account while determining the minimum and maximum Fitra.
