Commercial train to run on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route from tomorrow

Tomorrow, December 1, will mark the beginning of commercial train services on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route, according to the Bangladesh Railways office.

The dream and much anticipated train will cruise the Dhaka-Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar line tomorrow, Friday, at 12:30 pm. For this, every form of preparation has been finished.

On November 11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally opened the railway project at the recently built iconic station in Cox’s Bazar. The railway department has finished all required work, including train scheduling, since the inauguration.

Cox’s Bazar Iconic Railway Station in-charge Station Master Golam Raboani said, “All preparations for commercial train movement have been completed. The first train with 780 passengers will leave for Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar station tomorrow at 12:30 pm. On the other hand, another train will depart from Dhaka with the same number of passengers at 10:30 pm.”

For the time being, he stated, two trains will travel this route. At 12:30 pm, the train will depart from Cox’s Bazar. At 9:10 p.m., it will travel via Chattogram to Dhaka. However, the train is scheduled to depart Dhaka at 10:30p.m. The following day, at 7.20 am, it would arrive at Cox’s Bazar.

Additionally, he stated that there will be 450 seats in non-AC cabins and 330 seats in air-conditioned AC compartments on the train. For passengers traveling with Chattogram, two coaches are planned.

The AC snigdha class fare on this journey is Taka 1,325 per person. Shovan class non-AC fare is Taka 695. He said that the fare in AC is Taka 470 and in non-AC is Taka 250 from Cox’s Bazar to Chattogram.

The recently constructed Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar rail line has everyone giddy. On the route for December 10, every advance ticket has been sold out. The rail line will boost travel to Cox’s Bazar so that visitors can take advantage of the hill and sea at the same time.
