UK raising Palestinian aid by a third with extra £ 10 million

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak declared on Monday that the UK will send an additional £ 10 million ($12 million), or a third more, in humanitarian help to the Palestinian people.

“An acute humanitarian crisis is unfolding to which we must respond. We must support the Palestinian people because they are victims of Hamas too,” he told parliament.

“An acute humanitarian crisis is unfolding, to which we must respond,” Sunak said as he announced the funds on the floor of the House of Commons. The Palestinian people need our help since Hamas also harms them.

According to a statement from the UK government, the financing would enable significant UN organizations to deliver vital relief supplies and services, including as food, water, and emergency services, in accordance with the situation on the ground.

Sunak and Cleverly are also engaged in talks with Israel, Egypt and other countries about opening up the Rafah crossing in the Gaza strip to allow urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza. “All UK aid funding the OPTs undergoes rigorous oversight, and no funding goes to Hamas,” the government statement read.
