Russia attacks Ukrainian cities overnight, two dead in Kherson

Russian attacks on many Ukrainian cities over night claimed two lives in Kherson on Thursday while falling missile debris in the capital Kyiv resulted in several injuries.

Ukraine’s General Staff reported that “since the start of the present day, the Russian occupiers have launched a massive missile attack on the civilian infrastructure of a number of regions.”

Oleksandr Prokudin, the regional governor, reported that two males, ages 29 and 41, were killed when Russian shelling struck a hostel in the southern city of Kherson.

“The Russian army shelled the residential quarters of Kherson,” he said on the messaging platform Telegram.

At this time, we are aware of two dead people who were found inside a dormitory.

Prokudin stated that four individuals were rushed to the hospital, including a 61-year-old woman who was in critical condition.

Russian cruise missile assaults on Kiev, according to Ukrainian military authorities, began overnight.

Seven individuals were hurt as a result of the shot-down missiles’ falling debris, and several structures were also harmed.

“According to initial reports, cruise missiles of the X-101/555/55 type were launched from about 10 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft,” Sergiy Popko, head of the city’s military administration, said on Telegram.

“More than 20 enemy targets were destroyed by air defence forces and means.

“As a result of the downing of the missiles, debris fell in several areas of the capital.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that according to medics, seven people were injured in Darnytskyi district.

“Three of them are in city hospitals. Four were treated at the scene,” he said.

A nine-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were among the three taken to hospital, he said.

According to Klitschko, rubble also fell on a gas station and a technical college, and rescue personnel were still on the site.

The air alert in Kiev, according to Popko, lasted for more than two hours.

“The capital has already passed the mark of 1,000 hours of alerts since the start of the full-scale invasion,” he said.

“We survived it and will overcome a lot more together.”

Igor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, who lives close to the Russian border, claimed two persons were hospitalized “as a result of the morning shelling” of the eastern city.

He said there were “at least six strikes,” all of which were in the Slobidsky region, on Telegram.

The governor of the larger Kharkiv area, Oleg Synegubov, warned that “damage to civil infrastructure” had occurred.
