Bangladesh sends humanitarian aid to flood-affected Libya

As part of its humanitarian relief efforts, Bangladesh has provided supplies to flood victims in Libya.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a Bangladesh Air Force C-130J aircraft departed Dhaka for Libya at 8 p.m. on Thursday carrying the supplies and medications required to aid those impacted by Cyclone Daniel and flooding.

After the plane took off for Libya, Air Vice Marshal AHM Fazlul Haque, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations), briefed the media. Abdulmutalib S. M. Sulaiman, the ambassador of Libya to Bangladesh, was also present.

“Dry food, water purification tablets and emergency life-saving medicines are being sent as relief items provided by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in the said transport aircraft. In addition, medicine and other medical supplies needed by the army are being sent to Libya by the mentioned aircraft,” the ISPR added.

The loading of the goods was observed earlier in the afternoon by Lieutenant General Wakar-uz-Zaman, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Department. On September 17, 2023, the flight is scheduled to make a return.
