‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ releases on Chorki

‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’, a full-length docudrama, based on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is now releasing on the OTT platform Chorki.

The docudrama depicts the experiences of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s time in exile and her return to Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina, as the daughter of Bangabandhu and not the Prime Minister, is the subject of this documentary.

The documentary also includes other tales from the daughter of Bangabandhu. It recounts the dreadful events of 1975, when Sheikh Hasina’s father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the majority of her family were ruthlessly assassinated.

Many people do not know the details of how Sheikh Hasina survived after 1975. This documentary has made that hitherto obscure history public. This documentary is airing on Chorki today, on National Mourning Day, in recognition of its connection to August 15, 1975.

Apple Box Films and the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) collaborated on the production of “Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale.” The producers were Apple Box Films’ Piplu R Khan and Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and the director was Apple Box Films’ Nasrul Hamid Bipu.

On November 16, 2018, the docudrama debuted in a few cinemas around the nation. For the following two weeks after its debut, the docudrama enjoyed box office success.

‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ has been screened and acclaimed at several international film festivals. Considering the audience demand, the docudrama was later released on television also. Following that, it’s now being released on the OTT platform Chorki.

Reflecting on the thought behind the production of the docudrama, its director Piplu R Khan said, “The docudrama highlights various aspects of the personal, family and political life of Sheikh Hasina including her struggle for survival, starting from her kitchen to serving as the head of state.”

“Along with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana’s life has also been featured in this docudrama. I just tried to present the truth on screen through this docudrama,” he continued.
