UK’s Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme recruits Bangladeshi workers

On Monday, the Bangladesh High Commission in London held a briefing session in the Mission’s Bangabandhu Lounge for Bangladeshi employees who were hired for the first time under the UK’s Seasonal Agricultural employees Scheme.

According to a communication received here, a British international recruitment company, Regency Recruitment Ltd, engaged these workers for a British farm and organised their journey to the UK.

The recruitment of workers was facilitated by the Bangladesh High Commission in London and the Bangladesh Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

While briefing the workers, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem emphasized the importance of adhering to all of the rules and regulations of the UK’s Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme in order to maintain Bangladesh’s image and facilitate future recruitment of more Bangladeshi workers in the UK’s farm sector.

The High Commissioner assured the workers that the Bangladesh High Commission in London will be available for all-out assistance during their 6-month contractual stay in the UK, and that the Bangladesh High Commission will continue to work with the British government and private sector to recruit more Bangladeshi workers in the UK’s agriculture sector.

The High Commissioner also highlighted several initiatives taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government to create more overseas jobs and regular migration for Bangladeshi workers, and said, “Migrant Bangladeshi workers are now working in many countries with dignity and earning more remittance as well as building a positive image for Bangladesh.”

On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Regency Recruitment Ltd Rowsonara Begum said, “Regency Recruitment will continue its efforts to recruit more Bangladeshi workers under the Scheme to meet the UK’s labour market demand”.

Regency Recruitment Ltd is the only authorized agency to recruit farm workers from Bangladesh under the UK’s Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme, according to the CEO.

She urged everyone involved to be cautious with recruitment adverts, particularly those on social media. She praised the Bangladesh High Commission in London for providing all essential assistance in the recruitment of the first batch of agricultural labourers.
Regency’s Director of Recruitment Naseem Talukdar, Chief Financial Officer Shalim Abs, and Liaison Consultant Mahbub Noor Mabs also spoke.

The employees discussed their recruitment experiences and affirmed their commitment to working and adhering to the laws and regulations.
