French pensions protest turnout falls to 380,000 nationwide: ministry

According to the interior ministry, 380,000 people protested against President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform across France on Thursday, a significant drop from last week’s marches.

Last week, it counted 570,000 people. According to French union CGT president Sophie Binet, about 1.5 million people marched Thursday for the 12th day of protests against the reform since January, which was fewer than unions’ estimate of around two million for the previous protest day on April 6.

The interior ministry reported 42,000 protesters in Paris on Thursday, while unions led by the CGT reported 400,000 in the capital.
