An Iranian business leader disclosed on Monday that Iran and Saudi Arabia will soon establish a joint chamber of commerce.
During a conference, Keyvan Kashefi, a member of the governing board of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), stated that the ICCIMA is following up on the launch of the joint chamber of commerce.
Iran intends to resume exchanging business delegations with Saudi Arabia immediately following the reopening of the two countries’ embassies and the reinstatement of their ambassadors, he added.
According to Kashefi, the normalization of relations between Tehran and Riyadh has been Iran’s primary political and economic issue over the last 30 days. He went on to say that the Iranian private sector had welcomed the “constructive and positive” interaction with Saudi Arabia and had begun to plan for future economic collaboration.
The Iranian business leader expressed hope that Iran’s positive interactions with other nations would continue.
Kashefi stated that collaboration between Iran and Saudi Arabia in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and technological sectors has great potential.
On March 10, China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran revealed a deal in which the latter two agreed to resume diplomatic ties and reopen embassies and missions within two months.
Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016 in reaction to attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran following the execution of a Shiite cleric by the kingdom.
