250 women entrepreneurs get Tk 50,000 grant

On the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of Bangamata’s birth, the ICT Division’s iDEA Project gave grants totaling Tk 12.5 million to 250 female entrepreneurs throughout the nation, according to BSS.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for the ICT division, presented each entrepreneur with a one-time grant of Tk 50,000 as the chief guest at a celebration on Monday at the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) office in the city’s Agargaon district, according to a news release.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, the funds were distributed by the BCC’s Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project.

Speaking at the event, Palak stated that the revered woman Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib served as the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s unending source of inspiration for carrying out all the actions and struggles.

He claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is enjoying a humble life, inspired by the way of life of Bangamata, and that Begum Mujib fulfilled Bangabandhu’s works by acting as his shadow throughout his political career.

The ICT state minister said the following when discussing the grants offered to women business owners: “Women entrepreneurs are less likely to fail than males are. Mothers and daughters of ours are frugal. I believe the grant awarded to the women business owners will not be in vain “.
Palak said that 1000 ‘Bangamata Indomitable Entrepreneurs’ will be given grants on August 8 every year and added that the ICT Division will do its best to provide training, co-working space and seed money to women entrepreneurs to create 50 percent women entrepreneurs by 2041 to materialise the vision of ‘Smart Bangladesh’.

As special guests, NM Zeaul Alam, senior secretary of the ICT Division, Ranajit Kumar, executive director (additional-in-charge) of BCC, Shomi Kaiser, president of the Women and e-Commerce Trust (WE), and Nasima Aktar Nisha, president of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) attended the event.

Zeaul Alam, who spoke at the event, emphasized the significance of women’s involvement in creating a “Smart Bangladesh,” saying, “We adopted Digital Bangladesh effectively in 2021, which is a significant accomplishment. No longer do we have any challenges or roadblocks to progress “.

The event, which was presided over by project director (joint secretary) of the iDEA project Md Altaf Hossain, featured speeches from Rupa Ahmed, president of the Women Entrepreneurs of Bangladesh (WEB), and Anondomela Sara Zita, a consultant for the UNDP.
