First shipment of Ukraine grain to leave Odessa at 0530 GMT Monday: Turkey

The first shipment of Ukrainian grain will leave the port of Odessa at 0530 GMT Monday, the Turkish defense ministry said in a statement.

“The departure of the cargo ship Razoni flying the flag of Sierra Leone and loaded with maize will leave the port of Odessa bound for Lebanon at 08:30 (0530 GMT),” the ministry said, adding other convoys would follow “along the (maritime) corridors because the “procedures are completed”.

The ministry stated that further convoys would respect the maritime corridor and the formalities set forth in accordance with the agreement made with Russia on July 22.

At 0500 GMT, the Razoni was still berthed in Odesa, according to the Marine Traffic website.

The vessel, which has a capacity of 30,000 tons, was built in 1996 and measures 186 meters (610 feet) in length and 25 meters in breadth.

In order to alleviate a global food crisis brought on by halted grain shipments across the Black Sea, Turkey and the United Nations, along with Ukraine and Russia, inked a historic agreement on July 22.
