Chinese guy was executed for the blogger’s ex-murder wife

A Chinese man was sent to death for burning his ex-wife on fire while she was live streaming and killing her.

On Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, the woman, also known as Lamu, was a well-known social media figure.

Videos about her life in the Sichuan Mountains had been viewed by hundreds of millions of her followers.

The situation brought attention to violence against women in China. According to one study, one-fourth of all Chinese women have experienced domestic abuse.

According to reports, the mother of two went to the police to report her violent ex-husband but was informed it was a family affair.

The court in Aba prefecture, a remote rural region in the southwest of Sichuan province where a high number of ethnic Tibetans dwell, concluded that her husband Tang Lu’s crime had been “very cruel” and the social impact had been “extremely awful” when he was given the death penalty.

Lamu and Tang separated in June 2020. According to the court, Tang has a history of abusing Lamu.

Three months later, at her father’s house, he doused her in gasoline and lit her ablaze. Ninety percent of her body was burned, and two weeks later, she passed away.

The incident sparked nationwide indignation and rekindled the conversation about violence against women.
