To encourage meaningful purchase and support the economic inclusion of marginalised communities for an equitable society, ‘Prerona Mask’ is now available for purchase on the online platform of popular retail chain “Shwapno.”
Prerona Masks are made with love by the specially-abled students of PFDA Vocational Training Center, under the ‘Amra Shikhi, Amra Pari,’ programme of Prerona Foundation—a one-of-a-kind initiative through which the Foundation is working to promote economic inclusion of people with disabilities by providing them with mid-to-long-term livelihood generation opportunities.
Since its outbreak, Covid-19 has forced us to conform to certain health protocols to curb the spread of the virus. The pandemic has also created multiple new challenges for the people as they are having to adapt to the new normal while bearing the brunt of the pandemic’s economic impact. For those living in the fringes of the society, the challenges have been greater.
Against this backdrop, Prerona Foundation has introduced various capacity development programmes for these marginalised communities, providing them with the right knowledge and sustainable livelihood opportunities to rise above the prevailing challenges.
Prerona Foundation has also developed an effective market linkage model in collaboration with other like-minded organisations through which the products made by the specially-abled individuals are made available on various online and offline retail channels for consumers so that they can make meaningful purchase.
These unisex face masks consisting of 4 layers (with 2 mid-layers of polypropylene), are being made in compliance with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) production. The masks have also been tested and certified by Bangladesh Government’s authorised certification agency.
The trendy and comfortable masks feature metal nose clips for a secure fit. Prerona Masks also come equipped with soft earloops for comfort. All Prerona Masks are washable and reusable up to 20 times. Interested individuals can choose from six exclusive designs of Prerona Masks made only for Shwapno customers at BDT 300/each. The masks are also available for spot purchase at all outlets of the popular retail chain across the country.
Shwapno has been a part of Prerona Foundation’s endeavor to create a sustainable income-generating opportunity for the specially-abled communities since October 2020 by helping the Foundation create market linkage for Prerona Mask. The customers, too, can contribute to the cause through meaningful purchase—each purchase of Prerona Mask will inspire the specially-abled makers to move forward towards a brighter and more equitable future.
Prerona Foundation is working for a brighter future of marginalised communities in Bangladesh. All of the Foundation’s work is guided by the development principles enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals. In order to achieve the SDGs, it is essential to initiate holistic, multi-sectoral projects based on inclusive business models that would enable the communities living on the fringes of the society to transition out of poverty. To this end, the Foundation is collaborating with government agencies, private sector actors, and other non-government entities to create shared values and support the government’s efforts to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Prerona Foundation has already initiated various multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral projects to provide people with adequate knowledge and tools so that they can realise their dreams of a better future.
