The COVID-19 pandemic and the continued levels of restrictions worldwide, including Bangladesh, is an unprecedented situation that continues to affect our lives. Last year, most governments around the world closed down schools in an attempt to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
After more than a year comprising anxiety, worries, and distance learning, it is now time for schools to open their doors with the prospects of returning to normal. DPS STS (Delhi Public) School Dhaka has also decided to open its doors for on-campus classes from September 12, 2021, conforming to the government’s standards and health protocols.
Before entering the school premises, DPS STS will conduct an entry check with a non-contact infrared thermometer and make sure that all students are wearing a mask. To ensure high-quality hygiene services, DPS STS is introducing state of the art washroom facilities equipped with a non-touch, paddle-operated hand washing system. Besides, with awareness posters around the campus, sanitizers in place, and frequent cleaning of every part of the school, DPS STS has come up with numerous more safety protocols to combat contamination issues.
In addition to that, to prevent any further spread of the infection, DPS STS has set up a suitable routine by dividing the grades into four parts. On September 12th, 2021, students of Grades 5 -12 started their physical classes, while Grades 1-4 started from September 13th, 2021. Meanwhile, pre-primary and CF (Cambridge Foundation) students is continuing their online learning as usual.
According to the guidelines, the school will conduct one face-to-face class per week for Grades 1-9. Online classes will continue for the other days of the week for these grades. On the other hand, Grades 10-12 will have physical classes on a daily basis. Furthermore, the entire procedure will be monitored by the COVID Task Force of the senior leadership team. The school management will review and revise the on-campus class plan again by the end of September and will share the plan with the parents for the upcoming month.
On this occasion, Dr. Shivananda CS, Principal, DPS STS, said, “As we learn to come to terms with the consequences of the novel coronavirus, schools must start to implement strict protocols and guidelines with the reopening of education institutions. At DPS STS, we will repeatedly conduct surveys of the campus to ensure readiness. As per the government guidelines, students will maintain three feet between two seats and attend classes. Equipped with well-trained staff and safety protocols, we are ready to welcome our students back to school!”
