Bangladeshi youth development organization, SERAC-Bangladesh’s Executive Director and Asia Pacific Youth Advisor of UN-Habitat SM Shaikat has joined the Eastern Economic Forum being held in Vladivostok, Russia during September 2-4 on an invitation by Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) was established by decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin on 19 May 2015 to support the economic development of the Far East and to expand international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Over the last few years, the Forum has become a major international communications platform and a key event for business leaders and top political figures from around the world. The Forum, with its business programme encompassing more than 100 events, including interactive panel discussions, roundtables, and business breakfasts attracted over 8,500 participants representing 65 countries and territories.
Alongside the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the event will be joined online by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Video greetings will be delivered by President of the Argentine Republic Alberto Fernandez, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha.
As a social development and youth policy expert, SM Shaikat will be speaking at The Youth View on the Greater Eurasian Partnership: New Opportunities for Regional and Global Cooperation session representing Bangladesh and bringing in global experience to highlight meaningful engagement of youth in policy planning and decision making to improve regional and international development programs, and achieve UN sustainable development goals (SDGs).
