IEDCR study shows vaccinated Covid patients face lower risks of hospitalization and death

According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), those who have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccination had a decreased risk of respiratory difficulties, hospitalization, and mortality.

The study, which took place between May and June among Covid-19 patients, recommended that people get both doses of the vaccine and follow health laws to help stop the pandemic, which has killed almost 21,000 people in Bangladesh so far.

Apart from identifying antibodies in vaccinated patients, the study also discovered virus activity in their systems, according to bdnews24.com.

It involved 1,334 patients over the age of 30 who were randomly selected from a national list of patients.

592 of them were not immunized, while the remaining 742 were. Covid-19 was contracted 14 days after the vaccine was given to the 306 people who received both doses.

According to the IEDCR study, 11% of patients who did not receive any vaccine doses developed respiratory issues, according to bdnews24.com. Among those who had been fully vaccinated, the percentage had dropped to 4%.

According to the study, unvaccinated Covid-19 patients with underlying health concerns had a 10% greater likelihood of respiratory difficulties than fully immunized patients.
