The head of the online marketplace Evaly, Shamima Nasrin, and its managing director (MD), Mohammad Rassel, have been barred from travelling by a Dhaka court.
The order was issued by Dhaka metropolitan senior special judge KM Imrul Kayes on Thursday, however, the subject was only exposed on Saturday.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had previously petitioned the court for a travel ban on Evaly’s chairman and MD in order to help the investigation into allegations of money laundering and embezzlement.
Following the appeal, the court ruled that they could not leave the country. The ACC’s public prosecutor, Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, confirmed this to Prothom Alo.
