Russia says 300 mn Sputnik V doses to be produced in India per year

The makers of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine said Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with India’s Serum Institute to produce 300 million doses per year.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced in a statement that “the parties hope to produce approximately 300 million doses of the vaccine in India each year, with the first batch scheduled in September 2021.”

In September, the first batch of Sputnik vaccines will be produced at SII’s facilities. According to RFID, Russia’s sovereign wealth fund that markets the vaccine abroad, the parties plan to produce around 300 million doses of the vaccine in India each year.

SII received a test license from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) on July 4 to manufacture small batches for examination, testing, and analysis at SII’s licensed Hadapsar facility in Pune.
