Western nations united against China in its crackdown on Uyghurs

The West has united against the Chinese government’s crackdown on the Muslim Uighur community in Xinjiang province. The Chinese ambassador came under fire from representatives of the United States, Britain and other countries at the virtual event due to the persecution of Uighur Muslims.

The delegation called on the Chinese government to allow the UN delegation to inspect the situation. Britain’s ambassador to the United Nations has called China’s treatment of Uighurs the most heinous crime of all time. As always, the Chinese government has denied allegations of crimes against humanity.

According to various human rights organizations, the Chinese government has turned the minority Muslim Uighur-inhabited province of Xinjiang into a kind of prison. More than 1 million people are living in captivity there. The Chinese government’s brutality against Uighur Muslims has gone too far. Despite concerns and protests from various countries, Muslims are still being held captive.

Human Rights Watch has called on the United Nations to investigate the brutal persecution of the Uighur Muslim community.

The rate at which they have been subjected to repression has been described as a crime against humanity.

According to the BBC, a virtual meeting on Wednesday brought together representatives of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and 152 delegates, including ambassadors from 51 countries to the United Nations. At that time, the Chinese ambassador came under fire from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and other western countries. The British ambassador called China’s treatment of Uyghurs the most heinous crime of all time. The United States has said it will continue to speak out until it stops treating Uyghurs.

“As long as China does not stop oppressing minorities, we will continue to work with our allies,” said Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US ambassador to the United Nations.

Human Rights Watch has called for those involved in the persecution of Uighur Muslims to face trial. The agency also called for the suspension of the proposed China-EU investment agreement until an investigation into the forced labor is carried out.
