China’s birth rate has dropped over the past 10 years

China, a country of 1.4 billion people, had a population growth rate of 0.57 percent from 2000 to 2010. In the last ten years, it has come down to 0.53 percent. This information has been known in a newly published report.

According to Chinese statistics, the population growth rate has declined by almost zero point four percent in the last ten years. Birth rates throughout China have dropped dramatically already due to a number of factors.

In order to increase its population, China adopted the two-child policy in 2016, repealing the decades-old one-child policy. Instead of the population growth targets set at the time, the country’s population continues to decline.

Experts believe that giving more importance to education and career than family is responsible for this. Even abortions are slowing the country’s population growth. In the industrialized major cities, many have lost their jobs and become reluctant to have children due to economic uncertainty.

On the other hand, economists fear that the reduction in the birth rate will have an impact on the country’s economy. They are also urged to look at the role of large populations in China’s economic growth.
