IPL: Thousands of crores of rupees case against BCCI

A lawyer has filed a Rs 1,000 crore case against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for continuing the IPL despite the Corona epidemic. Lawyer Bandana Shah filed the case in the public interest in the Bombay (Mumbai) High Court on Wednesday (May 5).

He said in a statement that despite the coronavirus killing countless people across India, Indian cricket board officials have turned a blind eye to their own interests and continued the IPL with an “arrogant mentality”.

The documents filed in the case against the Sourav Ganguly-led agency further said that the BCCI should have apologized to the people affected by Covid for spending Rs 1,000 crore on oxygen and medicine.

After filing public interest litigation in the court, lawyer Bandana Shah said, “BCCI officials are very arrogant. That’s why even though more than one family died in Corona Grass in India, the board officials did not pay attention to that. Instead, he has continued the IPL with his eyes and ears closed. It is against humanity. Corona should be fought if the board officials have the minimum responsibility towards the common people of India. One thousand rupees should be spent on oxygen and medicine for people suffering from covid and they should apologize to them.”
