Hajj will not be allowed without vaccination

Saudi Arabia says vaccines are “mandatory” for pilgrims to avoid coronavirus infection.

The country’s health minister, Tawfiq al-Rabiah, told local media that only those who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus will be able to take part in the Hajj this year. This is the “main condition” for participating in the Hajj. However, the Saudi authorities did not provide details on whether the condition was only for Saudi nationals.

The country stopped performing Umrah in March last year due to the coronavirus. However, Umrah resumed from October 4 following the hygiene rules.

More than 2 million people go to Saudi Arabia for Hajj every year. But last year’s context was completely different. No one outside Saudi Arabia was allowed to perform the Hajj last year.
