Super typhoon Gani hit the Philippines

Super Typhoon Gani hit the Philippines on Sunday amid warnings from authorities. The typhoon is expected to create the most “catastrophic” situation in the region. More than 300,000 people have fled their homes.

The state’s weather forecasting agency said the strongest typhoon of the year hit the island of Catanduanes at 4:50 a.m. (Greenwich Mean Time Saturday, 2050). The wind is blowing at a speed of 225 kilometers per hour due to the impact of the typhoon.

In the next 12 hours, strong winds and torrential rains are expected across the region and south of the main island of Luzon and Catanduanes.

As Guinea approaches the Philippines and intensifies in the form of a “super” typhoon, it poses a particularly dangerous situation for the region. Typhoon Molave hit the same area a week ago.

The disaster killed 22 people. The storm flooded low-lying villages and farmland before crossing the South China Sea to Vietnam.
