Chennai Super Kings got off to a good start in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament by defeating defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai difited Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai by 5 wickets in the first match of the league which started yesterday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Chennai won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai opener Rohit and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock started the innings with 47 off 26 balls. In the end, Mumbai got 162 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Chennai fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets for 36 runs.
Man of the match Raidu, returned with 71 off 46 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes, but Du Plessis remained not out with 58 off 44 balls with 6 fours. In the end, England’s Sam Karan made 16-run tornado innings with 1 four and 2 sixes off 6 balls to ease Chennai’s victory.
