Human chain and memorandum issued in Barisal to stop violence against children

The human chain program has been observed in Barisal due to the increase of violence and torture against children and women. The program was jointly organized by Barisal Shishu Forum and Barisal Youth Forum in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city on Tuesday (August 18) at 11 am.

At the protest program, around 50 young people protested by obeying the health rules while carrying placards and wearing black fabric on their mouth to ensure exemplary punishment of perpetrators.

After the human chain, a memorandum was handed over to Barisal Deputy Commissioner SM Aziar Rahman. The Deputy Commissioner accepted the memorandum and assured to take appropriate action.

The memorandum said that any kind of violence and torture against children and women is not acceptable. Violence against children and women has risen sharply during the Corona epidemic. There are also reports of child marriages in many places. Government agencies are urged to be more proactive in protecting women and children, as well as expeditious punishment of perpetrators.

It is also demanded to take special initiative to know the condition of children engaged in government institutions and domestic work.
