Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed to withdraw the value-added tax (VAT) on testing kits used for coronavirus prevention and detection in the 2020-21 budget. .Mustafa Kamal also proposed to withdraw VAT on locally produced personal protective equipment (PPE), surgical masks for health workers.
The proposal was tabled by the finance minister in the budget session of parliament on Thursday (June 11).
He proposed to repeal VAT on import, manufacture, and trade of all types of testing kits used for coronavirus detection.
Besides, the Finance Minister has also proposed to repeal VAT on import, production, sale, and purchase of medicines used to cure Covid-19.
