New York City to open on June 6, House rent bill passed

New York City is being reopened in the first phase on June 8 with memories of the deaths of thousands of relatives and neighbors.

In addition, the New York State Legislature has passed a bill to provide temporary relief to low-income tenants in the city.

The bill, titled ‘The Emergency Rent Relief Act of 2020′, was passed in the state Senate on Thursday, May 26. If the bill is approved by Governor Andrew Cuomo, it will become law. According to the law, four months’ rent will not have to be paid from April to July 31. Homeowners will receive rent by submitting a voucher to the government.

On May 26, Governor Cuomo said four million people would be able to start work in New York in the first phase. He said 67 people had died in the state in the past 24 hours due to coronavirus infection.

From the Corona Stimulus Package (Care Act) fund, New York State is allocating $100 million for rent to low-income people. Those who have been unemployed since the beginning of Corona and spend more than 30 percent of their monthly income on house rent will get the opportunity to get a house rent waiver.
