British PM’s top aide accused of second lockdown breach

On Sunday, Boris Johnson, the British prime minister’s top adviser Dominic Cummings faced with fresh allegations that he had violated the coronavirus lockdown rule for the second time.

The British government on Saturday denied firing Dominic Cummings for violating coronavirus lockdown rules by traveling across the country while showing symptoms of the disease.

On March 30, Cummings, who announced that he has coronavirus symptoms, met his young son on March 31 near his parents’ home in Durham, northeast England, about 240 miles (400 km) from his home in London.

Observers and the Sunday Mirror reported that he had again broken the lockdown restrictions and returned to London at the end of a trip north, citing witnesses, to make his second appearance in Durham on 19 April.

After defending Cummings against calls for his resignation, Downing Street late Saturday said it “would not waste time” responding to the fresh allegations.
