Ronny Roy declared as media martyr against Coronavirus by JFA

Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) lamented for shocking death of senior photojournalist Ronojoy Ronny Roy. He was suspected to be infected by novel coronavirus complications. JFA announced him a brave media fighter within the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in India. Ronny Roy was 57, he used to live in Kolkata and his wife Pinki Roy died four years back after loosing her battle against cancer. The couple had no child.

Ronny Roy is the first working journalist in India to succumb to the deadly coronavirus and he should be considered as a media martyr in the ongoing battle against the coronavirus pandemic worldwide, said a press release issued by JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria adding that almost 75 media persons are tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 across India.

JFA, meanwhile, appreciated the gesture shown by the government of Assam to incorporate all journalists in a life insurance coverage of 5 million rupees each who are tirelessly reporting the pandemic within the State. Thanking State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and finance-health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally the forum shows hope that it’d embolden scribes to continue their selfless services to the state.

JFA, meanwhile, appreciated the gesture shown by the government of Assam to incorporate all journalists in a life insurance coverage of 5 million rupees each who are tirelessly reporting the pandemic within the State. Thanking Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief minister of Assam and finance-health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally the forum shows hope that it’d embolden scribes to carry on with their unselfish services to the state.

In another instance, JFA expressed shocked at the half-a-day long interrogation of Arnab Goswami, who is Republic TV editor-in-chief, by the Mumbai police over an FIR against him by some Congress leaders. It also added that the police had apparently disregarded the incident of attacking Arnab and his editor wife by two goons in Mumbai and went after the forthright journalist as he complained the Congress chief in different statements.
