Grameenphone aims to create a gender-equal workplace

Grameenphone has celebrated International Women’s Day 2020 to emphasize on the significance of gender diversity by highlighting a diverse organization is a better performing organization and supported the cause #EachforEqual at GPHouse and all business circles across Bangladesh on 8 March 2020.

The keynote speaker Dr. Rubana Haq, President BGMEA, said, “Respect is something that defines the success of any partnership. Each for equal, the theme for this year’s IWD embraces a journey where males and females will be treated equally. We shall make time to treat our souls, listen to our hearts, and do something for our partners – fulfill your desires, and don’t keep any regret. I am happy to see Grameenphone is taking each for equal cause very seriously and creating an environment to encourage female leadership.”

Grameenphone left its mark in promoting gender diversity agenda in the industry, and a change agent. Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone, said, ‘Our journey so far has been to create a more balanced and equal workplace and to build an inclusive culture. We have progressed on by bringing in female talents in critical roles such as Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Next Business Leaders in core Sales operations, and also other critical functions of the organization. We are also part of the industry collaboration platform INSPIRIT. All our efforts intended to break stereotypes by eliminating gender-biased job titles. Collectively, we can help each other to create a gender-equal world’.

During the event, Grameenphone showcased its efforts throughout the year to promote an equal gender workplace. Syed Tanvir Husain, Chief Human Resources Officer, Grameenphone, along with other officials from Grameenphone, also attended this event and signed off the cause.
