Le Méridien Dhaka introduced the classic British ‘Afternoon Tea’

Le Méridien Dhaka has introduced the classic British ‘Afternoon Tea’. From 2 pm to 6 pm everyday, Latitude 23 of Le Méridien Dhaka will serve ‘Afternoon Tea’ along with finger foods for the food enthusiasts of the capital.

Afternoon tea was first introduced in England by Anna Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840. The Duchess used to get hungry around four o’clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o’clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner.

H.E. Ms. Alison Blake, High Commissioner, British High Commission Dhaka inaugurated the event. She stated her excitement by saying, ‘I am delighted to see my own culture celebrated so far away with such grandeur. I appreciate Le Méridien Dhaka’s regular efforts of celebrating different cultural celebrations from around the world. I feel happy to be a part of this endeavor.’

On this occasion, General Manager of Le Méridien Dhaka said, “Like all our previous authentic food festivals and cultural celebrations, this time, we are bringing one of the most definitive British rituals for Dhaka. Dhaka, being a prominent cosmopolitan city, has a great crowd for such authentic hospitality. We are excited about the feedback from our beloved customers.”

Delicious Sandwiches, Scones and Pastries will be served on the occasion. 10 varieties of tea including Oolong Tea, Lemon Gras, Sencha Special Green Tea and Pristine Black Tea will also be there. Afternoon Tea’ will cost BDT 2000++ per person.
