SINGER and BRAC jointly started providing ‘free of cost tailoring course’ to 5000 underpriviledged women across Bangladesh

SINGER & BRAC have jointly started providing ‘free of cost tailoring course’ to 5000 underprivileged women across Bangladesh.  As part of this, a total 44 women received certificates at Katlapur at Savar on July 26, 2018, after successful completion of the two-month tailoring course under the  Singer-Brac joint project titled “Obolombon’’.

Savar Municipality Counselor Darfin Akhter, Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Human Rights Council Ahsan Ullah Labu, Senior Manager – Marketing Communication of SINGER Bangladesh Ltd. Raziur Rahman and BRAC Skill Development Manager Mazharul Islam gave away the certificates among the women successfully completing the tailoring course.

Among others, from Singer Bangladesh Ltd. Deputy Manager – Education Nazmun Nahar, Assistant Manager – Education Ms. Lubna Hamid, Assistant Manager – Marketing Communication Mr. Nazmus Saqib and Marketing Officer Munmun Rahman while Communication Specialist Ms. Amina Akba; Officer – Operation, Mr. Amir Khasru, Field Co-ordinator Mr. Shohag Mojumder, Project Officer- Mr. Enayet and Trainer Ms. Tumpa Wadud from Brac attended the ceremony.

With a view to providing tailoring training to 5000 underprivileged women, BRAC and Singer Bangladesh Ltd. launched this special initiative titled ‘Obolombon’. Under this initiative, 5000 women, living below the poverty line, will receive the free tailoring at 20 BRAC centers across the country. During the training period, the participants will also receive sewing accessories free of cost. This project ‘Obolombon’ aims at empowering women so that they can be self-dependent and improve their socio-economic conditions.
