Grameenphone and A2i to arrange ‘Women’s Innovation Camp 2018’ in Bangladesh

GP White-Board and A2i, are jointly arranging ‘Women’s Innovation Camp 2018’. Access to Information Program (A2i) has been supporting the parity issues of women and involving the society in several women empowerment activities for a long time. In continuation to this, A2i has collaborated with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) and initiated the program ‘Women’s Innovation Camp’ to provide an open platform for the innovative women to participate in bringing a solution to national problems.

The objective of this camp is to identify some significant problems in the society and bring feasible solutions to those through an open competition. The best ideas and solutions will be awarded in the event finale and these ideas will be facilitated for successful implementation.

After the success of the 2016 and 2017 event, A2i will be organizing ‘Women’s Innovation Camp 2018’ this year which will be open for all women (Individual or organization). Women Applicants from all over Bangladesh will be able to submit their innovative ideas based on the identified problem sectors. The most feasible and implementable ideas will be taken forward in the competition.

GP White-Board, the largest enabler of young innovators, takes initiatives that help the community to get the right platform and grow their innovation with us. This initiative includes the most diversified innovators (Female) who are passionate about their innovation and seeking opportunities. That is why, GP White-Board is collaborating as ‘Innovation Enabler’ of the initiative.

The call for application for ‘Women Innovation Camp 2018’ was announced on May and it was closed on 31 July, 2018.

After that, the applications will go through a rigorous screening process to find the innovations which can move ahead with this journey. The selected innovators will have to pitch their ideas in two phases to prove that they have the best innovation which can solve a social problem.

After the pitching, the teams will join a boot camp where they will be groomed up for the final pitching round. During the final pitching round, we will get the best innovations from Women of the country.

On this note, the Deputy Secretary and Innovation Specialist of A2i, Shahida Sultana said ‘Women innovation camp aims to achieve more female participation in the field of technology and make their contribution sustainable in the long run. We are hopeful that collaboration with whiteboard will help us reach this goal quicker and better.’

This is the largest and most exciting initiative for the women innovators of the country. Grameenphone CEO Michael Foley said ‘This initiative is really unique and it is big. And I think you will going to find it as one of the most interesting things we have done in innovation all year.
