Le Méridien Dhaka observes ‘Journey Week’

Le Méridien Dhaka, part of Marriott International, recruited a significant number of female employees at the second edition of Journey Week by Marriott International. The initiative takes place in all Marriott International properties across Asia Pacific every year to attract new talents while inspiring current associates to aim high.

With the purpose of empowering women at workplace, Le Méridien Dhaka introduced this program in 2015. It is the first hotel in Bangladesh to engage women in every sphere of the workplace and with a vision to make the gender diversity ration to 30:70 by 2020. This will encourage and inspire associates of the world’s largest hospitality group to create their own future and shape the company, and also show potential employees why Marriott International is an employer of choice.

Marriott International believes that a great career is a journey of self-discovery: people achieve personal fulfillment through new adventures. Marriott International is equally committed to each associate’s journey, enabling them to grow personally and professionally with careers that flourish.

“Marriott International offers unmatched career opportunities coupled with a culture that empowers associates to live their best lives,” said Regan Taikitsadaporn, Chief Human Resources Officer at Marriott International.

As part of the Journey Week, Le Méridien Dhaka, hosted Female Recruitment Day for aspiring young women of the country to build their career in the hospitality sector. The initiative created job opportunities for fresh graduates and existing young professionals in the country.

Associates in senior leadership roles were also present at the occasion, sharing their own career journeys to inspire others to reach their own career destinations. Over 400 aspirant women were able to participate in this open house recruitment process by simply bringing in a copy of their resume at the venue.

Le Méridien Dhaka authority said, “Women empowerment and economic development are closely related. Le Méridien Dhaka has always encouraged female associates to take up roles in various departments within the hotel property. Hospitality Management is a growing sector in Bangladesh and it is high time for women of Bangladesh to build their career in hotel and hospitality management”. Many women want to build their career in the hospitality sector but they cannot due to lack of opportunities. The initiative will bring an opportunity to accelerate their career in a dynamic way and build them as future leaders.
