In an interview on MSNBC, Apple CEO Tim Cook criticized what he called Facebook’s business model, saying, “If our customer was our product, we could make a ton of money. We’ve elected not to do that.” Cook also announced that Apple will be investigating its massive app store for potential privacy issues.
Cambridge harvested data from over 50 million Facebook users. But at the bottom of a company announcement about new privacy features, Facebook’s chief technology officer, Mike Schroepfer, issued a new estimate for the number of users who were affected: as many as 87 million, most of them in the United States.
