Tauseef Rasheq Ahad to represent Bangladesh at upcoming Commonwealth youth council executive elections

The 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will be held at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, The United Kingdom from 16th to 20th of April 2018. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second, along with His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales will be attending the Meeting with 53 Prime Ministers of Commonwealth Countries.

The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF), The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) General Assembly, The CYC Executive Elections and Installation Ceremony will be held alongside CHOGM at the same venue. 106 National Delegates, 2 from every of 53 countries have been elected by the Governments to take part in this prestigious gathering, which will be honoured by the presence of some of the greatest leaders in the world. These National Delegates will be joined by 300 finest Young Leaders from 53 Countries of The Commonwealth.

The CYC is a team of 9 Executives who are elected for a term of 2 years. These 9 Executives are the brightest young leaders of their country, highly endorsed by their Governments. The Executives are elected by the votes of National Delegates from 53 countries during CHOGM and they are responsible for creating a prosperous, sustainable, secure and a fairer future for 1.2 billion Youths of the Commonwealth, who are aged below 30 and account for 60% of The Commonwealth’s total population.

Tauseef Rasheq Ahad has been proudly endorsed by the Government of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh to compete for The Commonwealth Youth Council elections for the position of ‘Regional Representative of Asia’ for the term of 2018-2020. Through a rigorous selection process, he has been shortlisted to be one of the 5 candidates competing in elections for the abovementioned position. The other countries competing for this position are: Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Tauseef is an aspiring and proud Bangladeshi Young Leader, who recently graduated with Honours in Bachelors of Electronics Engineering with a major in Telecommunications from Multimedia University in Malaysia. He is the highest award winning student in the history of his University with 3 Individual Awards in 3 years and 8 collaborated Awards, including ‘The Golden Achievement of the Year’ Award from ISS Excellence Awards 2014, ‘Student Leader of The Year’ Award from MMU Awards 2015 and ‘The Aspire Award’ from MMU Awards 2016.

Tauseef previously did his Internship under AirAsia at their Global Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. AirAsia is the world’s best low cost airlines for 9 years in a row. Tauseef was privileged to Intern under one of The Group Chief Officers – a rare honour for an Intern in any company.

At The Commonwealth Youth Summit 2017, during Commonwealth Conversations by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles!

Tauseef is also a Finalist of the prestigious Queen’s Young Leaders’ Awards of 2016, an Associate Fellow of The Royal Commonwealth Society and a Senior Judge of The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition of 2016. Adding to that, Tauseef is the Executive Secretary of Youth Affairs for The Royal Commonwealth Society in Malaysia.

Moreover, Tauseef is the Regional Director and National Director of Hult Prize Foundation, which is the world’s largest competition for social good. Every year, 1000 Universities compete in Hult Prize, with 200,000 annual applications, 5000 startup ideas, 10,000 entrepreneurs, 10 million man hours and 150 million lives targeted. The Hult Prize has been mentioned as one of the top 5 ideas that are changing the world by President Bill Clinton in a recent TIME Magazine Interview. Every year, a winner is chosen through rigorous competition and awarded USD 1 million.

Tauseef was recently selected as one of the most aspiring 300 Young Leaders of the world to be a part of The Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations at Harvard University, Boston, USA, which is Harvard University’s largest initiative in Asia. He was also invited to The Commonwealth Conference on Education Ministers in Fiji, which is a meeting that is held once every 3 years. 53 Education Ministers from 53 Commonwealth Countries were present at the Conference.

Tauseef is a Global Youth Ambassador (one of 700 in the world) and a Global Youth Ambassador Influencer (one of only 5) under Her Excellency Mrs. Sarah Brown, wife of Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, under A World at School : Theirworld.

Tauseef is the Deputy Organizing Chairperson of Unnovate Summit, the first project under the world’s first Commonwealth Youth City in Perak, Malaysia. This Summit will be bringing 3 Ministers, along with Malaysia’s top Corporate Leaders with 600 Young Leaders of Perak, in an effort to transform lives of the Youths of Perak State.

Tauseef was previously one of 3 core organizers of The Inaugural Commonwealth Youth Summit – the first of its kind, which was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales during his first visit to Malaysia and The Deputy Secretary General of The Commonwealth, Dr. Josephine Ojiambo. This Summit welcomed 300 of the brightest young leaders of The Commonwealth out of 1800 applicants.

 

In his capacity as an Associate Fellow, Tauseef was also honoured to be Her Majesty’s Baton Bearer for The Commonwealth Games of 2018, during the Baton’s tour of Malaysia, through a Baton Relay.

Tauseef was also an Invited International Speaker at the World Youth Conference in New Delhi, India – which gathered 1200 Young Leaders with 30 prominent speakers. Tauseef was also one of the selected 30 Young Leaders for World Federation of United Nations Associations Youth Seminar in Kuala Lumpur and one of selected 60 Young Leaders for International Youth Forum under Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in South Korea.

Adding to that, Tauseef is a part of a 60-person team of Google Lunar XPrize Finalists, who will be sending a spaceship to The Moon by 2022 – the first and only team from South East Asia.

Among his other achievements, Tauseef was one of the organizers of TEDxKL : the largest TEDx in Asia with 4000 audience and 12 prominent speakers. Tauseef has also worked with Microsoft by being one of the volunteers for Microsoft Imagine Cup National Finals and Microsoft TechFemme.

Tauseef has organized one of Malaysia’s largest Career Fairs: with 84 companies in a 2 day event and prominent speakers from NASA, animators of Oscar-winning films, supermodels and startup gurus of Malaysia – making the event consistently the highest award-winning event in University.

Tauseef was in the Students’ Representative Council of his University – as one of the 22 brightest Young Leaders from a campus of 10,000 students. He was also selected as one of the 15 Research Scholars under his University’s overseas research programme – where he worked with top universities and research laboratories in Japan and organized a national-level research conference. Tauseef has also taught 2 first-year programming subjects in his University for a year as a Peer Tutor. Tauseef has also served in the Executive Council for IEEE Student Branch and Debating Society.

Through his 3 years of experience of working with The Commonwealth, The Royal Commonwealth Society and The Commonwealth Youth Council – Tauseef aims to put forward strong manifestos and campaigning in the race to win the election. If Tauseef wins this election, he will be elected as the first Bangladeshi to be in The Commonwealth Youth Council in history – a rare honour for a country of 180 million people and 100 million Youths.
