Datsun revealed its most-awaited compact crossover, the Datsun CROSS – the third model introduced by the brand in Indonesia and the sixth new Datsun model globally.
With distinctive looks and advanced technology and safety features, the new Datsun CROSS marks the start of the next phase of Datsun’s journey in the country.
Developed for Indonesia, this modern car expands the choice for Datsun customers while setting new standards in the segment and creating a new flagship of the brand in the market.

The very name, CROSS, reflects its dual character, crossing the borders of daily life and performing routine tasks with ease, yet ready to take on new adventures whenever asked.
The Datsun CROSS is powered by a lightweight and highly responsive 1.2-liter 68/78 hp gasoline engine, with 104 Nm of torque for the perfect balance between brisk performance and a strong economy. This highly regarded engine family is respected not just for its performance but also for its dependability. It’s a trust that’s been built up over several years, during which built and used to power a variety of Nissan and Datsun models.
In addition to the manual transmission, the model also offers the X-Tronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). Introduced for the first time in the Datsun lineup, this latest-generation CVT technology further enhances drivability and enjoyment. Smooth and easy to drive, it’s also highly fuel efficient, offers better performance, has fewer moving parts, and is more durable, lighter and more compact than a conventional automatic gearbox.
The Datsun CROSS has been specially created to tackle a variety of road conditions in Indonesia, with protective body cladding and extensive underbody protection guarding against possible damage from mud or flying stones. The cladding is finished in a dark metallic gray with lighter metal-like inserts and contrasts with the body color to give a highly appealing, rugged look.
Underlying that ability, the Datsun CROSS has 200 millimeters of ground clearance and large, 15-inch wheels, with tires specially developed from a rubber compound that gives better performance and economy.
The Datsun CROSS is also the only car in its class equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) technology as standard in all grades. Using the latest software controlled by onboard computers and sensors, the VDC suite of features embraces anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution with brake assist (EBD), traction control (TCS) and brake-limited slip differential (B-LSD). The Datsun CROSS also benefits from other safety equipment including dual front airbags, safety belt warning lights, and automatic headlights.
The dual character of the car is accentuated by its purposeful and highly individual looks. Notable from the front is the distinctive “eagle-eye” projector headlamps – the car is the first in its segment to feature automatic operation of the lights. Datsun’s now familiar honeycomb grille, larger and more upright than before to accentuate the tall bonnet line, dominates the front.
In profile, the rising shoulder line and the bold flick toward the rear of the car provides a link to existing Datsun design language. In the Datsun CROSS, it’s more pronounced and therefore more dynamic. It’s practical, too, with chromed roof rails as standard.
The black interior matches the exterior’s sporty image and features individual front seats with sturdy side bolsters for extra support when maneuvering. The interior is trimmed in a distinctive black seat fabric, with a honeycomb pattern and discreet silver stitching.
There’s ample room for five adults and a spacious trunk for their luggage. There’s also the bonus of two extra seats in the back that can be used, if needed, over short distances.
The extensive color palette for the Datsun CROSS covers a range of seven shades including two distinctive new metallic colors – amber and copper. Other available colors include two solid shades – white and black – and three additional metallic shades: gray, red and silver.
The car will be produced at the Nissan/Datsun plant in Purwakarta, West Java, with the first deliveries planned in March. The car will be offered at a booking price starting from 163 million Indonesia Rupiah. Precise pricing and grade information will be announced closer to the start of sales.
