Huawei announced 10 Bangladeshi winners of ‘Seeds for the Future’ to visit China

Five teams from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), University of Dhaka (DU), and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET)) have won Huawei’s annual talent development program ‘Seeds for the Future- 2016’.

The winning teams, each comprising of two members, will visit Huawei HQ and its other establishments across China from October 24 to November 4.

The trip will give the winners a learning opportunity through exposing them to the latest developments in the ICT sector. The winners are mostly final year students who can prepare themselves better through this technology orientation program.

The winning teams are: Sheikh Nasif Imtiaz and Wasif Adnan Khan (BUET); Zafir Shafiee and Tanzin Mubarrat Syed (BUET); Nifat Ara Nipa and Ummul Afia Shammi (DU); Syed Mahir Tazwar and Tasfia Kabir (DU); and Md Rafi Islam and Avra Bhattacharjee (CUET).

The trip consists of two parts. In the first part, the students will attend introductory Chinese language and cultural classes at Beijing Language and Culture University. In the second part, the students will receive hands-on technical training from Huawei.

During this phase, they will travel to Shenzhen to work at Huawei’s Headquarters, where they will be familiarized with the company’s culture, strategy, and values. They will also visit Huawei’s state-of-the-art R&D and factory facilities.

‘Seeds for the Future’ is the global flagship CSR project that Huawei has been running in more than 45 countries with the participation of talented young minds from around the world. Huawei Bangladesh has been participating in this program for the last two years and this was the third time to follow.

Since inception, the program has been implemented in 67 countries and regions across five continents, benefiting over 15,000 students from 150 universities. More than 1,700 university students from around the world have taken a study trip to the Huawei headquarters, including more than 800 visitors in 2015. The program was first launched in Bangladesh in 2014, and has already proven a resounding success.
