With the slogan ‘Beat Air Pollution’, the World Environment Day was observed across the country with much enthusiasm as elsewhere the globe today.
To mark the day a colorful procession was carried out in Brahmanbaria town. District administration and the Department of Environment organised the procession in morning.
Later, a discussion was held at the Alauddin Shongitangon in the town. Deputy Director of Local Government Division Durray Shahnawaz took part in the discussion as the chief guest.
In Chuadanga, a procession paraded different streets of the town marking the day. A discussion on environment was also held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. Deputy Commissioner Gopal Chandra Das was present at the discussion as the chief guest.
The day was also observed in Nilphamari. On the occasion, a procession paraded various streets in the town. A discussion was also organised in the town. Speakers, at the meeting, urged people to plant more trees for beating air pollution.
In Kurigram, a colorful procession was brought out in the town on the occasion of World Environment Day. A discussion was also held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram. Deputy Commissioner Sultana Parveen and Sadar UNO Nilufa Yasmin, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The World Environment Day was also observed in Bogura, Panchagarh, Dinajpur and Narail in befitting manner.
World Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the human environment, resulting from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the environment.
