The CEO of IKCO Supplying Automotive Parts Company (SAPCO) says given a growing demand for Peugeot 2008 in the Iranian vehicle market, the joint venture company between Iran Khodro and Peugeot (IKAP) plans to increase its production.
In an address to a joint meeting between the managers from Peugeot, IKAP and the manufacturers chosen for IKAP project, Hossein Najjari said preliminary evaluations have already been made, adding the next phase of the auditing will be carried out in the near future.
“The participation of the domestic manufacturers in the first phase of the project reveals their interests in expanding and promoting their cooperation with IKAP,” he noted.
Najjari went on to say IKAP produced over 1000 units of Peugeot 2008 from December 22 to January 20 (the Iranian month of Dey).
“The figure will also stand at 2,500 units from January 21 to February 19 i.e. this Iranian month,” he noted and added as of February 20 to March 20, IKAP plans to produce another 2,500 units.
The CEO of SAPCO underlined that producing 26,200 units of Peugeot 2008 in the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 21) is high on the agenda of the joint venture company between IKCO and Peugeot.
He underlined that achieving the goals set for IKAP project requires producing a vehicle with a competitive quality, price and delivery time.
Najjari then hoped the joint venture can improve domestic supply chain in Iran and called on the domestic auto-parts manufacturers to do whatever in their power to promote the quality of their products and increase the domestic share of auto-parts production.
