DNCC mayor Annisul Haq passes away at London

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Anisul Huq died in a London hospital on Thursday night. Earlier, he was diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis at the hospital.

He breathed his last at Bangladesh time 10:30pm on Thursday night (4:30pm London time) at Wellington Hospital. He was 65, said a press release of the corporation.

It said a namaz-e-janaza would be held at London’s Regent Park Mosque after the Jumma prayers on Friday. On Saturday morning, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight will carry his body back home. The flight is scheduled to land in Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20am, the press note said.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their deep shock at Anisul’s demise.

Main opposition leader Rowshan Ershad, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia also condoled Anisul Huq’s death.

The businessman-turned-mayor had gone to the UK on July 29 on family business. He was admitted to the National Neuroscience Hospital in London after falling unconscious during medical tests for neurological problems on August 13.

Annisul Haque, also TV personality, had been suffering from a neurological problem (dizziness and lack of balance) was diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis at a London neurology hospital.

He will be buried at the Banani graveyard following another namaz-e-janaza at the Army Stadium after Asr prayers.
