Shahid Afridi said he is pleased to have visited such a historical site as Lalbag Fort and informed that he loves to play cricket in Bangladesh
Dhaka players visited the historical Lalbag Fort yesterday with an initiative titled “Goli Cricket” to support street cricket. Omera LP Gas organised Dhaka’s visit to the historical site where the cricketers enjoyed a five-over-per side match against officials of the organisers. Dhaka captain Shakib al Hasan struck three sixes in a row to clinch the tie for the Dynamites.
After the match, the Dynamites distributed team jerseys, caps and bats among the fans.
“Almost every cricketer started their cricket with such (street cricket) type of game. I think I must give credit to Dhaka Dynamites owners, CEO, management and coaches for bringing the whole team here to attract each and everyone. I think, it’s a very good initiative and that we should continue it,” said Afridi to the media at Lalbag Fort yesterday.
“Obviously, it’s not about just cricket, we have a social life and the community we have, whereby we have a lot of fans. They want to see their cricketers one to one. So, I am very happy,” he added.
Afridi said he is pleased to have visited such a historical site as Lalbag Fort and informed that he loves to play cricket in Bangladesh and that he considers this country as his second home.
“I always enjoy Bangladesh. It’s my second home. I always enjoy playing cricket here. I always get good response, respect and love from the people here. That’s why I also love to play here and come here every year to play cricket. Foods are very similar like Pakistani food. There is no difference,” said Afridi.
“It’s very good to be here. Lalbag Fort is a historical place as well. I think it’s good not only for me but also for the team to move around and see the Dhaka city. It’s an opportunity to attract the community,” the former Pakistan all-rounder concluded.
Dhaka are leading the points table in BPL 2017 with seven points from five matches. Their next match is against Rajshahi Kings tomorrow at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
